Scientific Workshop

Mining & Post-Mining Seismicity

Ineris is happy to invite you to join this Workshop on mining-induced seismicity & post-mining seismicity, organized on behalf of EPOS Sweden by Luleå University of Technology.

Mining-induced seismicity is a well-known issue that has become increasingly important as the underground mines go deeper and deeper. Post-mining seismicity has until know been poorly studied but recent research shows the importance of considering the induced seismic hazard in mine-closure procedures.

The main objective of this workshop will be to share knowledge about recent advances in both domains. It will gather mining engineers from Europe and the research community involved in the EPOS-TCS (Thematic Core Service) for Anthropogenic Hazards (TCS-AH) and in the RFCS PostminQuake project in which Ineris is involved.

Practical Information

The detailed program of the Workshop is now available here.
It will start at 08.30 on September 20 and end at 17.00 on September 21.

-> During this two-day workshop we will have presentations, discussions, as well as a training session to the EPOS TCS Anthropogenic Hazards EPISODES platform (voir lien). -> A site visit at Malmberget mine will be organized on September 22.

The detailed information about the venue and registration as well as the detailed program is now available via this website (https://www.ltu.se/org/sbn/Avdelningar/Geoteknologi/Nyheter-och-aktuellt/Scientific-Workshop-on-Mining-Post-Mining-Seismicity-1.227886?l=en).

Registration is free but mandatory – has to be done before September 6, 2023.

Hybrid event (in-person and remote).

For in-person participation: a financial contribution will be requested to attendees from academic institutions and industries to cover the expenses related to coffee breaks, social dinner (optional) and site visit (optional).
